Dr. Mounzer Kassab, Director of MSU's epilepsy division and medical director of the epilepsy monitoring unit at Sparrow Hospital was interviewed on December 21,2012 by WLNS TV6 regarding the new expansion of the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit at Sparrow Health Systems in Lansing, MI.

Tyson Burghardt joined the facility's staff in November 2012. "We are excited by the addition of Dr. Burghardt and the expansion of what is the only unit of its kind from Ann Arbor to Grand Rapids," said Mounzer Kassab, the unit's medical director.

By the Fall of 2013, the new Sparrow Hospital Neuroscience Center will be completed. This comprehensive patient-centered facility will bring together our leading-edge William & Claire Dart Stroke Center, Neuro-Interventional Unit, Neuro Trauma ICU, Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, Neurophysiology Unit and Neuro-Oncology Services, as well as a support for patients and their families on the top two floors of the Sparrow Tower. I am delighted to announce that The Sparrow Stroke Center, in collaboration with Michigan State University, has achieved recognition as the first facility in Michigan and one of only about 20 nationally to be certified as a Comprehensive Stroke Center by The Joint Commission.

This is a huge achievement and is a testimony to our Caregivers’ commitment to excellence and quality of care.
