Congratulations Dr. Furqan Irfan on your two recent publications as first author.  Dr. Irfan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology and Director of Research Development in the College of Osteopathic Medicine.  Dr. Irfan research articles were entitled:  Coronavirus pandemic in the Nordic countries: Health policy and economy trade-off published in the Journal of Global Health and Health research-strengthening and capacity development: Research support system model in an academic healthcare system published in the Qatar Medical Journal.

The Coronavirus pandemic study was a comparative analysis of the health policy and economy trade-off in their national approaches towards mitigating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.  The countries making up the Nordic region were Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden who have minimal socioeconomic, cultural and geographical differences between them.  The publication can be found in the Journal of Global Health.

The publication on Health Research-Strengthening and Capacity Development looked into how healthcare research contributes to the well-being of a population and the importance of using the right system to ensure that junior researchers develop the required skills.  This study aimed to describe the development and evaluation of a model for health research-capacity development at both individual and institutional levels in a Joint Commission International-accredited governmental healthcare organization in Qatar.  This publication can be found in the Qatar Medical Journal.
