Building the Reading Brain

Dr. Kabelo Thusang is a pediatric neurologist and assistant professor in the MSU Department of Neurology and Ophthalmology.  He was one of the experts who participated in the WKAR Special, Developing the Reading Brain.  This documentary explores the science of reading and ways to help ready children for this complex task.  Reading is essential for daily life, but humans are not born with this ability.  Experts in education and neuroscience explain the science of how neuropathways are built, the brain's reading centers, and their impact on early childhood literacy, skill development and school readiness.
