Anmar Razak, M.D. recognized by WILX News

Dr. Anmar Razak, the Chief of Cerebrovascular Disease Division and Assistant Professor for the Department of Neurology and Ophthalmology, has been acknowledged by the WILX News Station in Michigan for his life-saving surgery on the station’s former news director, Kevin Ragan. The Director was able to survive a “bleeding” type of stroke secondary to an arteriovenous malformation last year because he was admitted to Sparrow’s Comprehensive Stroke Center - the only Mid-Michigan hospital to treat the rare diagnosis. In the 2018 article, Mr. Ragan and his family at the WILX News Station pay tribute to Dr. Razak, and the exceptional patient care that made him a hero to their community.

Sparrow is the only hospital in the Mid-Michigan region performing the type of surgery Ragan needed to survive.

It recently received a major national award called the Stroke Gold Plus Achievement Award from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for meeting certain nationally recognized quality measures.
