The Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship at UMH-Sparrow Hospital/Michigan State University is a one year, ACGME-accredited training program which focuses on EMG, neuromuscular diseases, EEG, Epilepsy Monitoring and management. Experience in Evoked Potentials and Sleep Study interpretations will also be gained. Applicants must have completed or be expected to complete an ACGME approved Adult Neurology Residency program.
The fellowship is designed to enhance the technical skills and clinical application of electrodiagnostic testing. The fellow will work closely with the Neuromuscular and Epilepsy Services. Under the guidance of our faculty, the fellow will become proficient in the performance and interpretation of nerve conduction studies, electromyography, electroencephalography, long-term video/EEG monitoring, and evoked potentials. The fellow will participate in outpatient Epilepsy and Neuromuscular Specialty Clinics. The curriculum offers exposure to sleep disorders, intra-operative monitoring, and nerve and muscle pathology.

Fellows are expected to develop an independent clinical research project in the field of clinical neurophysiology. Didactics include weekly conferences in clinical neurophysiology along with monthly muscle conferences.
After completion of the fellowship, the physician will be eligible to take the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology Board Certification Examination for added qualifications in Clinical Neurophysiology and initial certification in Epilepsy. Our graduates are prepared for positions in either private practice or academic medicine.
