David Rastall

D.O., Ph.D.
Sparrow Hospital/MSU Neurology Resident

I was interested in pursuing the arts early in my schooling, but I was drawn to medical research because I wanted to have a more direct and positive influence on the world.  After completing a college degree in art education, I went back to school for a D.O./Ph.D.

Williamston, MI

Why did you choose to become part of Michigan State University Neurology?

The MSU Department of Neurology has world class neurologists who inspire me to be an excellent clinician with similar performance standards in patient care.  The learning environment supports my medical research interests, and it allows me to collaborate on cutting-edge research projects in the field

If you were not a doctor, what would you have chosen as a career?

Ideally I would pursue multiple, independent careers simultaneously, enabling me to be a pure scientist, mathematician, author, artist, and game designer.  Fortunately, however, I am able to combine my passion for science and medicine as a physician scientist.
