Alex J. Linn, M.D.

MSU Interventional Neurology Fellow
Biography:

Dr. Linn is proud to have been raised in the Midwestern US.  He carries with him good morals and manners which were instilled during his upbringing in Norfolk, Nebraska.  Following completion of a Bachelor’s degree at Wayne State College in Wayne, NE, he obtained his medical degree from AUC School of Medicine, an international medical school headquartered out of Miami, FL.  He would then go on to complete a neurology residency at the Cleveland Clinic’s Florida Division, near Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  He then finished a vascular neurology fellowship at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, UT, where he participated in a geographically very large telestroke system and several multi-national clinical research trials.  When he’s not taking care of patients, you might find him fishing in a river stream, hiking in the mountains, or simply out enjoying all that life has to offer together with his wonderful family.  His favorite motto is: “We’ll find a way to get it done.

Why did you choose to become part of Michigan State University Neurology?

Michigan State University and Sparrow Health System provide a unique fellowship training experience that few places can replicate within the field of interventional neurology (aka: endovascular surgical neuroradiology, interventional neuroradiology, endovascular neurosurgery, neuro-interventional surgery, various names of the same sub-specialty).  There is a strong emphasis on both appropriate clinical decision making and early hands-on training.  This "take the reins early" approach has proven to make for the development of better neuro-interventional physicians that are not only skilled in the trade, but also able to make the best treatment decisions for their patients.

If you were not a doctor, what would you have chosen as a career?

Commercial airline pilot.
