Research Interests

My previous research studies have been focused on the anatomy and physiology in brain regions involved in movement disorders and dementia (e.g., the basal ganglia and basal forebrain). However, as a neuroanatomist and a practicing neuropathologist, I have a broad interest in any studies that correlate anatomy, physiology, and pathology of the central nervous system. More recently, I have joined research teams interested in a variety of topic including mechanisms involved in obesity, and spinal cord injury and repair. Current potential collaboration studies at MSU include studies of atherosclerosis, stroke, Restless Legs Syndrome, and cerebral malaria.
