Dr. Eggenberger’s clinical interests include neuro-ophthalmology, multiple sclerosis, and neuro-vestibular disorders. Neuro-ophthalmology interests include optic neuropathy, visual field deficits, diplopia/double vision, nystagmus, and vertigo. He is co-director of the Neuro-Visual Unit, and director of the MSU Ocular Motility Lab, Neuro-Vestibular Clinic and the MSU National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS) Clinic.

Research Interests

  • Double vision, optic neuropathy and multiple sclerosis; optic neuropathy research has included the Ischemic Optic Neuropathy Decompression Trial (AION, or stroke of the optic nerve study), Longitudinal Optic Neuritis Study (optic neuritis – inflammation of the optic nerve study), and CHAMPS (Controlled High Risk MS Prevention Study – demonstrated the value of early MS treatment with interferon beta-1a).
